AI development is one of the hottest topics of the moment in digital transformation. For financial services, what stage of development and adoption are we at in terms of AI? Are we still in the early stages of this technology or are we further along?
We are probably in the middle ground. Banks have fixed structures and bureaucratic processes, but they are beginning to understand the value of AI and its applications. So, banks are starting to invest heavily in this technology, but are slow to implement it. Fintechs, on the other side, are further down the road regarding AI applications but seem to lack the security or sustainability for the long run. The main issue is that AI advances and evolves quite rapidly, so even if a bank or fintech is spearheading the implementation of this technology now, it seems difficult to evaluate who will benefit most in the following years.
