Checkout.com, the cloud-based payments service provider, unveils its expansion into Israel and a strengthening of its commitment to the region with the launch of a research and development hub in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The launch of a new office in Israel is a continuation of Checkout.com’s international growth, allowing the business to work with new highly-skilled and technical talent pools. Israel boasts a highly educated workforce – with one of the highest number of engineers, scientists and PhD per capita (135 per 10,000). It also has a thriving startup ecosystem, with 97 tech unicorns founded by Israelis, making it an excellent location for Checkout.com’s research and development hub.

The move will see Checkout.com hire in the double digits across its product and engineering functions. This is part of its sustained investment in its high-performance culture, to attract and retain the best talent in the market.

“I’m delighted to announce the expansion of Checkout.com to Israel. The talent in the Israeli market represents some of the brightest minds in technology and will allow us at Checkout.com to continue attracting world-class developers and engineers to our business” said Meron Colbeci, Chief Product Officer at Checkout.com. “Our mission, to enable businesses and their communities to thrive in the digital economy, has never been more in focus.”

As part of Checkout.com’s commitment to the region, Chief Product Officer Meron Colbeci has relocated to Tel Aviv, to establish the hub. The business also announces the appointment of a suite of senior leaders to its Israeli operations, who will work closely with Meron to build Checkout.com’s offices in Israel. Ido Lustig joins in a dual role as Vice President of Product for Risk & Identity and General Manager of Israel. Avi Golan joins as Vice President of Engineering  and Jonathan Junowicz appointed as Vice President of Digital Marketing.

As part of its multi-product strategy to develop a range of solutions for enterprises designed to enable merchants to thrive in the digital economy, the new office will serve as a hub for the development of several product lines – including its recently announced Fraud Solution ‘Fraud Detection Pro’.

“As eCommerce spending is projected to reach $5.5 trillion by the end of 2022, we’ve seen a sharp increase in online Fraud. Our Israeli operations will serve as a hub for the continued research and development into pioneering new applications of technology to serve our merchants with a robust toolkit to fight online fraud.” said Ido Lustig, VP of Product and General Manager of Israel at Checkout.com.

Checkout.com is the global leader in enterprise-class payment processing, with its platform offering a versatile solution for global merchants to manage complex operations. Popular brands such as Sony, Siemens, Pizza Hut and Klarna depend on Checkout.com to power their global payments. This move also underscores Checkout.com’s ability to serve Israeli enterprises wishing to conduct cross-border operations and support global expansion.

Checkout.com’s Israel office will be in the Midtown TLV hub, Tel Aviv.
