a.s.r. announces partnership with Energiebespaarders (“Energy savers”). From 1 June, new mortgage customers of a.s.r. can work with Energiebespaarders for free customised energy advice and to have energy-saving measures implemented. In this way, a.s.r. helps homeowners throughout the entire process, from information to realisation. In the future, a.s.r. will be offering this to all existing mortgage customers as well. The cooperation with Energiebespaarders is in line with a.s.r.’s ambition to remove or lower all barriers to making homes more sustainable and thereby reduce CO2 emissions from homes in the Netherlands.
Home energy retrofitting, at the heart of banks' climate alignment strategy
Homeowners come up against all kinds of barriers to start making their homes more sustainable. a.s.r. has an extensive sustainability offering for mortgage customers to remove or lower these barriers. On its own platform Duurzaam Wonen (“Sustainability Living”), a.s.r. offers all kinds of information on sustainability. In addition, a.s.r. has the Verduurzamingshypotheek (“Sustainable mortgage”), which allows customers to take out an additional loan to finance measures. The partnership with Energiebespaarders also gives access to free customised energy advice and execution.
In the partnership with Energiebespaarders, new mortgage customers are given the option of a personal home visit by an energy adviser, direct advice and customised quotes. After the home visit, customers receive a personal ‘energy passport’ of their home. Energiebespaarders has access to a nationwide network of installers and can therefore offer a suitable party and solution for the customer. Energiebespaarders is the customer's single point of contact for the entire preservation process, up to and including submitting the subsidy application and any aftercare.
Neriman Polat, Mortgage Funding & Distribution Manager at a.s.r.: ‘The cooperation with Energiebespaarders was a logical next step for us. a.s.r. has been investing in making homes in the Netherlands more sustainable for a number of years now, regardless of the home’s current energy label. While customers are increasingly considering a Verduurzamingshypotheek, that doesn’t always mean they take advantage of it. Having information and financial resources is one thing, but then taking the step to start preserving still seems to be a barrier for many customers. Energiebespaarders removes that barrier, allowing plans to become reality.'
