NatWest has announced the launch of its banking app on Apple’s Vision Pro, a device that blends digital content with the physical world to create immersive experiences. This innovation marks the app's debut in the UK, making NatWest one of the first banks globally to feature on Apple’s VisionOS.
VisionOS offers a three-dimensional user interface controlled by eye movements, hand gestures, and voice commands. Users can select apps by looking at them, scroll with a wrist flick, and type using a virtual keyboard or voice dictation. NatWest has optimized its app for eye tracking and enhanced security to ensure safe banking on this new platform.
As an early adopter of this technology, NatWest aims to gather insights into how spatial computing can transform financial management. The bank plans to use these insights to refine its digital services and features. Customers will also benefit from Cora+, NatWest’s AI-powered digital assistant, providing a more intuitive and conversational experience.
The app allows users to view balances, transfer funds, and manage direct debits in a secure, immersive environment. The Vision Pro’s expansive digital canvas lets customers visualize their financial data in new ways, using features like credit score monitoring, spending management, and financial insights.
NatWest’s banking app recently surpassed 10 million users, highlighting its commitment to digital innovation.
Wendy Redshaw, Chief Digital Information Officer at NatWest Group, expressed enthusiasm about the new technology: “It’s great to be a first-mover with such exciting new technology. We’re very pleased to now offer our excellent Retail banking app through an immersive new experience. It will be interesting to take learnings, understanding how customers use the app in this new technology to deal with their finances, and to understand how we can create bespoke propositions to serve them even better. It’s just one insight into how the future of banking could look in the future – watch this space.”
NatWest’s entry into spatial computing with Apple’s Vision Pro marks a significant step toward a more engaging digital banking experience.
