Generali has announced a research collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), specifically with its Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems (LIDS). This partnership aims to explore practical applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in the insurance sector, strengthening Generali’s competitive edge.
Advancing AI in key insurance areas
Starting in January 2025, Generali’s operational units will work with three MIT research teams to enhance AI-driven solutions in strategic areas such as risk modeling, claims assessment, and smart underwriting. The collaboration will allow Generali’s data experts to engage directly with MIT professors in dedicated working groups. By leveraging cutting-edge AI and machine learning, Generali aims to develop innovative solutions that can reshape insurance processes and improve efficiency.
Marco Sesana, Generali Group General Manager, highlighted the initiative’s significance:
"AI will play an increasingly important role in our industry. Partnering with MIT allows us to harness its full potential, integrating AI into our key business applications. Working with a globally recognized research institution ensures we prioritize the most advanced strategic competencies to drive the company’s growth."
