Caixa, with its 148-year history, has continually adapted to ensure business sustainability. Today, more than ever, the rapid technological advancements, growing customer expectations, and new market entrants are important drivers of change that continuously challenge the role of traditional banks.
To be competitive, it is no longer enough to simply understand the business. Banks must have a clear vision for the future and use creativity to make it happen.
Developed in co-creation with NTT Data, the Metacircle (Caixa´s Metacircle) aims to redesign the recruitment experience and position Caixa as an innovative, trendy, and market-leading company.
The concept behind the Metacircle, 'The Beginning of Things”, is based on the idea that Caixa is in constant evolution and that both new talents and customers are part of its transformation, actively contributing to generate change.
This concept is sustained by the Vision CGD has for the Future – we are and will always be ahead – which materializes in the metaverse itself (a platform that, as trends suggest, will be the future of the internet).
Within the Metacircle, visitors have a unique experience, where they get to know Caixa from the inside, through spaces such as Sustainability; Culture; Recruitment; Our History; Values; and our offer for Businesses customers, contributing to build our future. The design of the Metacircle was inspired by its own concept. Populated with circles, the platforms symbolize something that never closes in on itself. Within it, we can always see the metaverse, demonstrating how everything is interconnected within Caixa, with the “desert” (a symbol of what is yet to be discovered) as background. The experience is constructed both horizontally and vertically, with platforms that levitate and catapult upwards, thus demonstrating the different Caixa lines of action.
Some inspiration can be seen in the more modern and minimalist design lines, without ever neglecting Portuguese symbols, such as the Oriente Station, personified in a bridge influenced by Santiago Calatrava, or the map of Lisbon, which appears in cut-outs to show the headquarters of Caixa Geral de Depósitos.
These and other elements, designed to demonstrate an interconnection between all the rooms, and the plurality of Caixa´sectors of action, are inherently linked to the experience of using the space, which promote a grand vision of the brand's scope, as well as the construction of an environment that does not require a linear experience, being able to navigate the part, seeing the whole. There is currently no bank on the market, in Portugal, that has developed a Metaverse open to all (customers and non-customers), making Caixa a pioneer bank in this innovative approach.
