In order to further understand workers' expectations of care within and beyond the workplace and identify key moments and opportunities for enhancing the delivery of employee care across the entire employee experience, MetLife has facilitated a yearly benefit trends study for more than two decades. The Employee Benefit Trends Study (EBTS) serves as an index for organizational success, as well as a guide for how MetLife can further support its customers by revealing pain points and business needs within the benefits area. EBTS revealed that nearly 45% of employees are confused about their benefits and 53% of employees say they have difficulty navigating and understanding their benefits. The Kaiser Family Foundation 2024 Employer Health Benefits Survey found that employees contribute an average of $6,296 out-of-pocket for family coverage per year. Hyper-personalized recommendations help them to choose and use these benefits to the max. EBTS also found that employers need support to drive up utilization of all their benefits, including point solutions that represent a significant spend. As the leader in Group Benefits, MetLife has an obligation to provide services to address these needs and challenges and that is why Upwise was developed. The objectives for Upwise are to boost employee engagement and wellness, enhance business performance for customers, and drive growth in the Group Benefits space. Upwise has proven to result in higher enrollments in voluntary benefits and higher utilization of those products which results in higher re-enrollment rates. Employers who deploy the solution see higher utilization of benefits, and employees receive hyper-personalized guidance and support and improve their benefits comprehension in order to maximize the value of their benefits. Upwise simplifies employees’ understanding of benefits, effectively addressing current unmet needs. The platform also enables employers to fully realize the potential value of their workforce while providing necessary support for employees.
