At the largest bank in Latin America, with thousands of scattered data sources and critical decisions being made every day based on data, finding the right information was a major challenge: how to quickly connect people to the right data with autonomy, confidence, and agility? Data Guru was born from this need — an intelligent conversational agent, integrated into Teams, that delivers in seconds what used to take hours. Its concept is simple yet powerful: to turn data search into a fluid, intuitive, and accessible experience. Using LLMs, search engines, and metadata enrichment, Guru locates datasets, suggests queries, identifies access roles, and explains data in natural language — without requiring technical knowledge. Inspired by virtual assistants and the growing demand for analytical autonomy, the project involved data, technology, business, and governance teams. From the beginning, it was developed with a user-centric approach, real-world testing, short development cycles, and continuous feedback. In just one month, Data Guru has already recorded over 6,000 interactions with more than 1,000 users. With 73% positive feedback and an estimated 60% productivity gain, over 1,000 hours have been saved from manual data searches. More than just a tool, Guru is shaping a new data culture in the bank — faster, more democratic, and smarter.
