John Hancock, a unit of Toronto-based Manulife, is now the first insurer in the U.S. to provide eligible customers with discounted access to Prenuvo's advanced whole-body MRI scans. Members of the John Hancock Vitality program will receive a $500 discount on these comprehensive scans, reinforcing John Hancock’s commitment to proactive health care.
"Early detection of cancer, lifestyle diseases, neurological conditions, and other health issues can significantly impact individuals, families, and our healthcare system," said Brooks Tingle, president and CEO of John Hancock. "We are dedicated to offering technologies that empower our customers to take control of their health for better outcomes. We are thrilled to introduce Prenuvo's MRI technology to our customers."
Chronic illnesses such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes affect six in ten Americans, driving a significant portion of healthcare spending. Prenuvo's whole-body scans can detect over 500 conditions, including most solid tumors at stage 1, aneurysms, and cysts, highlighting the importance of early detection and preventative care.
Andrew Lacy, CEO and founder of Prenuvo, emphasized the need for more focus on preventative care. "Out of the $4.5 trillion spent on healthcare in the US, less than 4% goes to preventative care. Our collaboration with John Hancock is a step toward making preventative healthcare more accessible, and we look forward to expanding this partnership."
After receiving a scan, eligible John Hancock Vitality members can review their results with a nurse practitioner provided by Prenuvo. Individual reports will not be shared with John Hancock, ensuring privacy and no impact on life insurance coverage or pricing.
John Hancock Vitality, part of the company's life insurance policies, promotes healthier living through education, support, incentives, and rewards. John Hancock and Prenuvo are committed to exploring further collaborations to enhance preventative healthcare for their customers.
