Innovation presentation
OMDS 3.0 (Österreichischer Maklerdatenservice = Austrian broker data service) is an interface definition, defined by a working group of insurances and broker/agent software companies of the VVO (Austrian Insurance Association - https://www.vvo.at/). Generali Austria is significantly involved in the definition process and brought up the idea of the „OMDS 3.0 Postservice“. This new way of document transmission is sustainable, secure and a fast. It also means reduced paper and less reduced postal charges for insurance companies. Fully automated processes for independent partners to their customers are possible.
Based on this definition, Generali Austria has been the first mover in implementation with the service “OMDS 3.0 Postservice“ and brought therefore the proof of concept in collaboration with one of the biggest brokers in Austria. As a result Generali Austria has a third way (Paper/post, e-mail, OMDS 3.0) for transmitting documents (e.g. policy, policy amendment, index amendment) to their independent partners (brokers and multiple agents). Generali Austria brought up an in-house IT-solution and integrated it in its whole system and process landscape. Documents and their meta-data are made available within a virtual post box (24/7) for the software of the independent partner. Furthermore, a concept of notifications and confirmations was implemented and for that reason, a reliable, transparent documentation in all affected systems is possible and available for further disclosure. The whole process within Generali Austria is fully automated. Concept/Objectives The idea behind the „OMDS 3.0 Postservice“ is to define a secure and fully automated process to transmit documents from an insurance company to their independent partners due to their broker/agent software. The objective is to reduce postage and paper costs as well as transmission time. The first definition of the „OMDS 3.0 Postservice“ was available at the end of 2023. Generali Austria firstly implemented on this definition the process and brought up the proof of concept in collaboration with one of Austrians biggest brokers. The implementation started in summer 2024 and the go-live was on January 24th, 2025. Within Generali Austria the following departments were involved: - Independent sales channels - IT - Operational Organisation - Departments of expertise (incl. Claim) Results: - Saved paper documents: 1775 envelopes within the first month - Proof of concept - Active promoting of the OMDS 3.0 Standard and the role of Generali Austria
