Grupo Ageas Portugal

PR Manager

Grupo Ageas Portugal received the silver award in the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) category at the Qorus Reinvention Awards – Europe 2024. 'Por um Mundo sem Rótulos' (For a World without Labels) is the name of their winning project. Rui Rijo, Public Relations Manager at Grupo Ageas Portugal, tells us more about the project and their feelings about this win.

What made you most proud of the ‘Por um Mundo sem Rótulos' project? What was your greatest achievement in making it happen?

One of the things we're most proud of in this project is that we've been able to show our approach and concrete vision of what we're doing in the area of social inclusion and diversity. Being able to prove what we stand for is increasingly important these days and, with this project, we have turned our words into actions.

We are proud to be able to say that we have integrated social associations into our buildings, creating real opportunities for people in vulnerable situations and enabling them to actively participate in society and the job market. What's more, with this project we've also managed to promote dialogue and reflection on the importance of inclusion and diversity, encouraging other companies and organizations to follow suit.

The greatest achievement in making it a reality was seeing the positive impact it had on the lives of the people involved, as well as on society in general. This project has shown that being involved in a greater purpose is synonymous with changing people's lives, with hope and added value, while contributing to a fairer society and a more inclusive labor market.

What is the most important thing you would tell someone considering embarking on a similar project?

Our advice to organizations thinking of developing a similar project is to have a real commitment to inclusion and diversity and to be willing to take concrete action to bring about change in society.

It is also important to involve stakeholders, including employees, clients, partners and the local community, and to work in partnership with organizations and institutions that share the same values. It is essential to have a clear vision and define specific objectives, as well as to regularly measure and evaluate the impact of the project.

What's coming next for the ‘Por um Mundo sem Rótulos' project?

We intend to continue expanding our inclusive and supportive approach, looking for new ways to contribute to a fairer and more equal society. Internally, in addition to the ongoing support we give to the social associations present in our buildings, we are also promoting initiatives that encourage reflection and dialog on inclusion and diversity among our employees.

In addition, the Grupo Ageas Portugal is also supporting social projects, via the Ageas Foundation, to help improve people's lives.

What would you say to companies that might consider entering the 2024 Insurance Innovation Awards?

These awards are a unique opportunity to highlight innovative and impactful projects in the field of insurance and social inclusion. Participating in this type of initiative can help promote the visibility and credibility of companies, as well as encouraging other organizations to follow suit.

It is important for brands to be transparent and honest about their projects and results, and to demonstrate a real commitment to inclusion and diversity.

What does this award mean to you and your innovation team?

We are very honored and proud to have won yet another award that highlights the work done in the Grupo Ageas Portugal. For us, it is a satisfaction that we see reflected in our employees, partners and clients, but also an incentive for our work – in addition to international recognition, this award brings many benefits to our teams, including greater creativity, innovation and resilience.

Social inclusion is a fundamental human right and a responsibility shared by all of us.
