Danske Bank has launched its innovative “Become a Customer” app, enabling individuals in Denmark to open an account digitally in just minutes. The app, available on the App Store and Google Play, eliminates the need for paperwork or in-branch visits, reflecting the bank’s commitment to simplifying banking services.

A faster and simpler way to join

The “Become a Customer” app is designed for personal customers aged 27 and older with MitID, allowing them to register, open an account, and access essential banking products like payment cards with just a few taps on their mobile phones. Younger customers and students can still use a separate digital platform tailored to their needs.

“This app makes becoming a Danske Bank customer easy and convenient—and not least quick,” said Mark Wraa-Hansen, Head of Personal Customers in Denmark. “We’re continuously working to enhance the customer experience, and this is a big step forward.”

Supporting both simplicity and complex needs

While the app caters to straightforward onboarding, it also complements advisory services for customers with more complex needs, such as mortgages or pension transfers. After consulting an advisor, customers can use the app to complete paperwork digitally, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.

Advancing digital transformation

The app marks a significant milestone in Danske Bank’s Forward ’28 strategy, which focuses on improving digital accessibility. It’s also the first tangible result of the bank’s collaboration with fintech provider Backbase, announced earlier this year. This partnership is aimed at delivering cutting-edge digital solutions that prioritize convenience and customer satisfaction.

As Danske Bank continues to expand its digital offerings, the “Become a Customer” app is expected to become a primary gateway for new clients, reinforcing the bank’s leadership in digital innovation.
