Revolut rolls out futuristic ATMs in Spain

From cash withdrawals to instant cards, digital bank blurs lines between physical and digital finance.

Revolut is reimagining the humble ATM. In a move that marks its first major foray into physical infrastructure, the digital banking giant is launching its own fleet of ATMs across Spain—beginning with 50 machines in Madrid and Barcelona, with plans to expand to 200 nationwide.

Unlike traditional machines, Revolut’s ATMs come with a 32-inch touchscreen, a sleek design, and functions that go well beyond withdrawals. Revolut customers will have access to free cash withdrawals both domestically and abroad, competitive exchange rates, and even the ability to open an account and receive a physical card on the spot. A feature for cash deposits is also expected soon.

Spain as a testbed for a new kind of ATM

The rollout in Spain isn’t accidental. With more than 60% of point-of-sale payments still made in cash, the country remains one of Europe’s most cash-reliant economies. It’s also a fast-growing market for Revolut, which already counts nearly 5 million Spanish users.

Users can locate the nearest ATM through the Revolut app, which includes real-time maps, addresses, and opening hours. Eventually, the ATMs will support Dynamic Currency Conversion for non-Revolut customers, allowing users to select real-time rates from Revolut instead of defaulting to their bank's conversion.

Bridging the digital-physical divide

The company sees these ATMs as more than convenience tools. They’re touchpoints that deepen brand presence and customer engagement—especially in urban centers and travel hubs. Even customers of other banks will be able to use the machines, albeit with competitive fees.

Revolut’s expansion into physical spaces underscores a larger trend: fintechs integrating into the real world, not just replacing it. A broader European rollout is already slated for 2026.
