Early bird Robert Wright runs ultra-marathons and has a love of cheese and warm beer. The CEO of Raiffeisen Bank Kosovo spoke to Efma’s Boris Plantier about his life and work.

 

Tell me a little about your background.

I have worked in banking and insurance for over 30 years and 19 of those have been spent away from the UK in Saudi Arabia, Albania and in Kosovo where I have been for the last 10 years. I started my career in retail marketing in the 1980s but at that time the major UK banks were looking for external marketing expertise and I was recruited by HSBC. My overseas experience has been much more about change management rather than banking, particularly my 15 years with Raiffeisen Bank in Albania and Kosovo where the challenge has been turning newly acquired banks and out-dated working cultures into market-leading, customer-facing operations.
