Innovation presentation

Generali’s ambition is to foster a meritocratic environment, where people performance is recognised and rewarded. Within the Generali People 2021 Strategy, this is possible through our Reward ambition, which encourages alignment with the strategic objectives and employee participation in sustainable value creation. To this end, in 2019 we developed and launched We SHARE, the first share plan for Group employees of its kind for Generali, with the goal of encouraging the highest number of people around the world to become Generali shareholders. With more than 21,000 employees and a participation rate of 35.3%, We SHARE was a resounding success. To keep in touch with this wide population base, we launched “The Owners’ Club” and its go-to resource for members: the Generali We SHARE App, an innovative digital platform created to keep participants informed and engaged throughout the three years of the Plan. The We SHARE App is a case in point of an agile project because it was developed by Group HR, in close collaboration with Group Communications and Group IT, who together successfully coordinated the initiative in a true team effort. The App, designed as the go-to destination for updates about the Plan, the share price performance and the outcome of the We SHARE donations to the Group’s Foundation ‘The Human Safety Net’ (THSN) also gives “The Owners’ Club” Members access to a world of valuable information from the Generali world. Special features include a Financial Education Program, previews on Group news and additional advantages dedicated to participants that will be rolled out throughout the plan’s duration. Therefore, the Generali We SHARE App can be considered an information repository, which allows The Owners’ Club Members to keep up with all the news, initiatives, and projects regarding the Group, in a digital and easy way. The story behind the projects starts with acknowledging the fact that Apps provide an effective and secure channel for connecting dispersed colleagues, bringing them together across distances. At a time like this, with the Pandemic keeping us apart and locking us down at home, Apps are particularly valued for their practicality and relevance in fostering alignment and engagement. This was the rationale for choosing this project. Generali’s Digital Strategy, a stretching ambition to accelerate the pace of transformation across the Group, is founded on the firm belief that digitalisation and the use of technology can go a long way towards helping the Group create and sustain a culture of inclusion and engagement. We realised that an App can serve as a single source of streamlined, relevant content and that this can result in stronger connectedness between the Group’s employees. It was this kind of digital innovation purpose that we aimed at when creating the We SHARE App: pulling together multiple information silos into a single trusted source, making news accessible to all employees, everywhere, and immediately – if needed even by alerting them via push notifications. We created a platform that enhances the employee experience, supports the employer brand, and will be of practical use throughout the Plan’s period and maybe – if things keep on going so well in terms of results and appreciation – even well beyond.
