Innovation presentation
Bradesco, through Bradescard, in partnership with Casas Bahia, has implemented a pioneering facial biometrics payment solution in some physical stores, becoming the first incumbent bank to adopt this technology in Brazilian retail. The central concept of the innovation is to allow new customers to make their first purchase using only their face as a form of authentication, eliminating the need for a physical card and providing a practical, safe and fluid experience. The main objective of the initiative is to optimize the purchasing process, reducing waiting times in queues and promoting a more efficient and personalized customer journey. In addition, the aim is to increase the security of transactions, with facial biometrics acting as an important fraud prevention fator Among its competitive advantages is the ability to integrate cutting-edge technology into the operation of one of the country's largest retail chains, delivering an innovative experience in line with global payment trends. The use of facial biometrics, being practical, durable, non-transferable and secure, increases consumer confidence and reduces friction at the checkout, important differentiators in an increasingly competitive market. The motivation for developing the solution arose from the need to transform the customer experience on their first purchase, immediately after signing up for the Casas Bahia card. In addition, it would modernize the sales flow in stores and provide the partner with an innovative process in the Brazilian market, as well as increasing the security of transactions. Bradescard identified this opportunity and sought the support of Inovabra, Bradesco's innovation ecosystem, which contributed strategically to building and conducting the experiment, ensuring a successful implementation. The project involved strong collaboration between Bradescard's business areas, Inovabra, who were responsible for making the innovation possible, and Casas Bahia, who embraced the proposal and made their retail structure available for testing and implementation. As a result, the solution provided a significant improvement in the customer experience, raised transaction security levels and positioned Bradesco and Casas Bahia as benchmarks in the use of facial biometrics for payments in Brazilian physical retail.
