The World has gone digital and consequently we live in an increasingly connected world. In Ireland, the internet has had a huge impact on how we live and 76.8% of Irish people are online. We’re ranked in the global top three for mobile internet use. AIB is putting digital at the heart of its strategy to become a more customer centric and digitally orientated bank. The Lab (an acronym for “Learn about Banking”), is a radical new concept store from Allied Irish Bank, forms part of this strategy. The first of its kind in Ireland, The Lab places all of AIB’s banking technologies together in a physical, brick-and-mortar Digital store showcase. The Lab boasts digital self-service technology, remote advisor accessibility, mobile device demos, an area dedicated to SMEs and a digital “avatar” that can help customers navigate the experience. Visitors to the branch will also enjoy free use of iPads, iMacs and WiFi. AIB will use The Lab to showcase digital innovations, educate consumers of the benefits of digital banking and to help them become more familiar with and adopt mobile, online and other self service banking services. The Lab got the Country talking about all that AIB has to offer, showing the public that online banking is both easy and practical. And most importantly, we are encouraging them to think and go digital for their banking needs. Changing our customer’s perception of banking, by encouraging them to experiment at The LAB. Visit www.aib.ie/TheLab to take a virtual tour of The Lab.
