Usage of mobile banking is increasing day by day and mobile users prefer to do their banking transactions easily, quickly and securely while they are on-the-go. Taking into account all of these, Isbank, Turkey’s largest private bank, follows the latest technologies to meet the need of customers proactively. Touch ID, Apple’s fingerprint authentication technology, was implemented for the first time on Isbank’s mobile banking app “IsCep” in Turkey on the same date (on September 17th, 2014) when Touch ID released to third party apps with iOS8. “IsCep” has also become one of world’s first apps in the world using Touch ID as a fingerprint authentication. Integration of Touch ID on IsCep removes the need to type customer PIN enabling a quick and easy login without compromising security. If a user’s fingerprint has been already registered to Touch ID enabled phone, after a simple one-time activation, the user can easily login IsCep via Touch ID and can do any transactions on IsCep. The new functionality has been integrated into “IsCep” by the cooperation of Monitise and SoftTech (Isbank’s technology subsidiary) within only 2 months. As Isbank, we aim to make the login process of “IsCep” easier and more secure via this project. We have totally achieved our goal because this technology has minimized the effort and improved user experience for the Touch ID available “IsCep” users.
