ASB Card Control Qorus Banking Innovation Awards 2015 - Winner

ASB Card Control is a self-service solution that gives ASB Visa credit and debit cardholders the ability to lock certain types of transactions to offer increased security and complete control over how they choose to use their cards. Located within ASB’s mobile app, ASB Card Control customers can lock certain transaction types and unlock when needed. If a transaction is attempted while a transaction type is locked, an instant notification is sent to the customer’s mobile phone to notify them. The ASB mobile banking app is available for iOS, Android and Windows Phone and settings are updated immediately in real time. The types of transactions that can be locked are contactless transactions (Visa payWave), online transactions, overseas transactions and ATM cash withdrawals. Customers can also set a spending limit per transactions (minimum NZ$100) and can place a full block on all card transactions if their card is misplaced. Cardholders can also use Card Control to add or update a card PIN. The ability to cancel and replace lost, stolen or damaged cards is also being considered as a future enhancement. A number of teams were involved in the development of this capability. The project was led by the business owner, ASB’s Product team. A number of teams across the organisation collaborated in the development and launch including, Product (business owner), Project Delivery, Payments, Digital, Technology, Sales and Service teams, Marketing and PR.
