Ziraat Mobile – “Internet Banking Online Application” & “Forgot Password” Functions with Government Chip Identity Card Qorus Banking Innovation Awards 2021

Ziraat Bank integrated two important functions to its mobile banking application “Ziraat Mobile”. Both of these two functions are useful especially in Covid-19 pandemic days and of course after the pandemic, every time. These two functions are; • Internet banking online application • Forgot password by using new government identity card with chip. Our customers can now apply to internet banking and login to internet banking by using their Government ID cards. Before that, only our customers having credit cart/debit card could benefit from the immediate “internet banking online application” and “forgot password” in Ziraat Mobile. With the development we have made, our customers who don’t have any credit card/debit card also can benefit from these functions by using their government ID cards with chip. The process for usage of government ID cards with chip for “İnternet banking online application” and "forgot password" are as below. • In the first step, the machine-readable zone (MRZ) information of the ID card is held on the phone camera for reading the necessary details. • In the second step, by enabling the ID card to be scanned with NFC feature of the phone, the biometric picture inside the card is reached. • In the third stage, image verification and liveliness test is performed by taking the image of the customer with the front camera of the device. Ziraat Bank started these functions for customers of Ziraat Mobile on October 2020 and our customers loved this new development and the first usage report of these functions show that they are used more times. Note: The screenshots are in Turkish because only Turkish residents can have Turkish Government ID card and we did not make this functions in English in Ziraat Mobile.
