#SupportLokal is an initiative by Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad that was born during the earliest days of the pandemic to help its MSME customers pivot their businesses to adopt digital solutions in order to market their business and remain “open” even through the strict movement control order periods imposed by the government. The initiative helped more than 140 businesses leveraging on Alliance Bank’s 3 million customer database and available Bank’s resources. As a bank that is focused on supporting businesses throughout their life cycle, we have expanded this platform to support the growth of local businesses on the ground as well through on point marketing activations and strategic partnerships.

Innovation presentation

The #SupportLokal idea was birthed due to the Movement Control Order (MCO) in April 2020 which affected businesses and their physical operations. As a Bank that has been focused on serving the SME community, we knew that many would be severely impacted from the loss of business and lacked the resources to quickly pivot their businesses to a digital marketplace. We saw the need to help future-proof these businesses by helping them transition from a purely brick-and-mortar setting to adopt digital transformations – to ensure the business can remain “open” during the pandemic period, with the Bank continuously playing a proactive role in aiding these businesses embrace a digital and sustainable approach.
