Innovation presentation

The concept of “Are You OK?” derives from a Japanese colleague Bunya Usui in AXA Life Japan whose mother lives remotely and alone, goes out without alerting her family, and not frequently answers her phone. He concerns about his mother, and expects a simple, effective service that can offer peace of mind for him and the whole family. Carrying this prospect, Usui, his colleague Kasahara and their AXA Life team participated in the AXA Start-In Program, an annual competition to select the best business solutions emerging from AXA colleagues. Successfully, “Are You OK?” became the winner of 2014, given the idea is so innovative and is valuable as a way for AXA to care about wellbeing of their customers. Afterwards, AXA Digital Agency from AXA Paris headquarter sees great potential of this idea, and is involved to make idea come true via a digital application. Since then, between Paris and Tokyo, it is agreed that the core values for this application is based on a family-sized communication platform, offering family members to know and react on their parent’s emergencies, and to check whether their parent health and wellbeing are good or not. Till now, “Are You OK?” has been on a progressive journey for almost one and a half year. The promises that were made initially are being fulfilled. So far, simply within the company AXA Life Japan, the application has helped more than 30 families with isolated seniors. Remarkably, in an earthquake in Kumamoto in April 2016, one of the users relied on “Are You OK?” to find her mother among all emergency areas.
