SME Banking

Session overview

Most banks now have AI pilots, budgets and strategies in place. Far fewer can clearly say what these have changed for their SME business. Our next SME Banking Community roundtable asks one direct question: where is AI creating real value, and where isn't it, yet?

Charith, Head of Worldwide Banking at AWS and Qorus Senior Advisor will open the session with a short introduction and a few examples of what the most advanced banks are doing in practice. After that, the floor is open. In a small, confidential setting, participants will compare their own experiences, including the successes, the disappointments and the challenges they share.

Key themes for discussion

Where is the value showing up? Which SME use cases (e.g. credit decisioning, onboarding, relationship manager productivity, servicing) are delivering measurable results, how is that value measured, and which use cases are still promises?

From pilot to production: Why do so many initiatives stall after the proof of concept, and what helps banks scale the ones that work?

Data and people: Fragmented SME data, legacy systems, and getting relationship managers and frontline teams to trust and use the tools.

Risk and governance: Balancing speed with explainability, model risk and regulation, especially in SME lending.
