Belfius Insurance is teaming up with Belgian sensor market leader Senso2Me to advance their personal alarm system, Jane. Senso2Me, known for its sensor technology and AI capabilities, will take on the development and deployment of this healthcare technology. Both organizations share the goal of enabling vulnerable individuals to live independently in their homes for an extended period, thanks to smart motion detectors and alarm systems. This technology not only improves the quality of life for seniors but also eases the strain on the healthcare sector.
With an aging population in Belgium, it's expected that by 2027, one-quarter of the population will be over 65 years old, and most of them prefer to stay in their homes as long as possible. This trend underscores the importance of home care, where technology plays a crucial role. Belfius Insurance recognizes this shift and has chosen to entrust its subsidiary, Jane, to Senso2Me, the leading player in Belgian sensor technology. This strategic move aims to create a robust platform that combines technology and healthcare expertise to drive innovation in the healthcare sector.
Els Blaton, a member of Belfius Insurance's management committee, explains, "Our aim in creating Jane was to have a more active role in the Belgian healthcare market. The intelligent technology of Jane has allowed us to contribute to an ecosystem where healthcare providers can leverage technological innovations. However, this requires deep knowledge and commitment from the healthcare sector, something we cannot provide at Belfius Insurance. This led us to turn to Senso2Me and entrust Jane to them, combining technology with healthcare expertise. We are committed to ensuring a smooth transition for our clients."
Senso2Me has made significant strides in the Belgian healthcare sector in just eight years. Over 100,000 of its sensors are in use in various facilities, providing alerts for falls, tracking individuals in need of care, monitoring room and medical refrigerator temperatures, and supporting data-driven care policies.
