COVA Africa emerged victorious in the 2023 edition of CATAPULT: Financial Inclusion Africa hosted by the LHOFT. Virginie Pouna, the CEO of this insurtech, sheds light on their strategy to streamline the distribution of insurance in Cameroon and French-speaking Africa.


What led to the creation of COVA Africa?

With an extensive background in the insurance industry, I've witnessed firsthand the transformative impact insurance can have in lifting individuals out of poverty and enabling them to realize their aspirations. Recognizing the inadequacy of traditional insurance models in catering to the diverse needs and preferences of the African market, I drew upon my experiences within leading insurance corporations to conceive the vision for Cova. Our mission is to bring forth a paradigm shift, redefining the way insurance is distributed, purchased and utilized. This vision is centered on aligning these processes with the unique needs and cultural inclinations of the African population.
