Dreamcash was one of the 10 fintechs selected for the LHOFT 2023 CATAPULT: Inclusion Africa program. Fabrice Alomo, Co-Founder and Product Leader of the Cameroon-based startup, tells us about his vision of financial inclusion and its realization through MiQo, Dreamcash’s flagship product.

What led to the creation of Dreamcash?

What led to the creation of our firm and its flagship product was the dramatic event that my cousin Ines faced when she lost her child because she did not receive a loan on time from her microfinance institution.

The memory of Ines's choked sobs as she recounted the events was still etched raw in my mind. The hospital, the empty crib, the way her dreams had turned into a dust cloud scattering in the wind. It wasn't just the loan; it was the system, the faceless entity that had swallowed her plea for help and spat out a rejection slip instead of a lifeline.

That's when the ember of change ignited within me. I saw the cracks in the system, the gaps that widened into chasms for the most vulnerable. Ines wasn't alone. I knew countless others who'd been denied access to basic financial services, their hopes and aspirations withering under the bureaucracy's shadow.

I couldn't be another bystander. I wouldn't let another child become a statistic; another family shattered by the whims of an uncaring system. So, I poured my heart, my savings, my everything into building something new. Not just another bank, but a beacon of hope, a bridge across the chasm.
