Addressing the MOT blind spot
A new app from UK-based insurer esure is aiming to take the stress out of car-related admin. In collaboration with fintech platform Caura, esure has launched a comprehensive insurance and car management app designed to streamline everyday vehicle tasks—from checking MOT renewal dates to paying toll charges—all in one place.
The move comes in response to a common oversight: according to esure, only 30% of drivers remember their MOT due date, with 1 in 5 admitting they’ve missed a renewal in the past. The new app not only sends reminders but allows users to book MOTs directly through a network of local garages. It also supports a range of other tasks, including paying road tax, checking exemptions, managing city charges, and pre-booking airport parking.
One app for insurance and more
Available for both iOS and Android, the esure app allows users to manage not only esure Motor and Home policies but also other vehicles not insured with esure. Customers can view their coverage, access documents, and handle updates, while also managing their broader driving needs. Early user engagement suggests strong interest in the app’s convenience and utility.
Developed in just four months, the app’s launch demonstrates esure’s efforts to modernize its offerings through digital-first experiences. It marks a step forward in the insurer’s broader tech transformation strategy.
Looking ahead: Fuel prices, EV charging, and more
Future updates are expected to introduce features like electric vehicle charging station locators and fuel price comparisons. The goal, according to esure and Caura, is to reduce friction in everyday motoring while keeping insurance management at the core.
By combining insurance services with practical driving tools, esure is betting that convenience and simplicity will resonate with today’s digital-savvy drivers.
