South Korea’s AI for Pet won silver in the Insurtech category at the Qorus NTT DATA Innovation in Insurance Awards 2025 for its AI-powered mobile app, which scans pets' eyes, skin, and teeth with 95% accuracy to detect early signs of illness—improving preventive care and lowering treatment costs. CEO Euna Huh tells us about the win and shares more about their solution.

Can you introduce yourself and tell us more about your role at your company?

My name is Euna Huh, and I’m the CEO of AI For Pet. I lead the company’s overall vision and execution as we build AI-powered tools that empower pet health professionals, insurers, and pet parents to detect and manage health issues earlier—simply by analyzing a pet’s photo. Our mission is to bring accessible, affordable, and accurate health screening to the pet industry globally, and we’re proud to be driving this transformation from Asia to the US and Europe.

What made you most proud of the winning project? What was your greatest achievement in making it happen?

What makes me most proud is that this award-winning project started with a simple but powerful question: What if pets could tell us what’s wrong, just by a single photo? From that idea, our team built a medical-grade AI screening system that now supports veterinarians, pet professionals, and insurers with preventive care scoring, risk triage, and better engagement with the pet industry. The greatest achievement was earning the trust of both veterinary specialists and insurance partners—validating our model with over 2.5 million images across 12 countries, and securing our first major partnership with Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance.

What’s the most important thing you would tell someone considering embarking on a similar project?

Innovation alone isn’t enough—you need to deeply understand your stakeholders and build for their pain points. For us, that meant proving clinical-grade accuracy for veterinarians, while also creating tools that were intuitive for non-clinical users like pet owners or pet professionals. I would also emphasize the importance of cross-functional collaboration. Our breakthroughs happened because engineers, researchers, vets, and business teams worked hand in hand.

What’s coming next for the project?

We’re now scaling our insurance-facing solutions to power smarter wellness programs, reduce claim costs, and personalize underwriting decisions. Through SDK/API integrations, our technology will become a core part of pet policyholder journeys—helping insurers offer real-time health monitoring and early detection features. We’re also expanding our AI model’s capabilities beyond screening into predictive analytics and personalized care pathways.

What would you say to companies that might consider entering the 2026 Insurance Innovation Awards?

I would highly encourage it. The recognition isn’t just symbolic—it creates visibility, opens partnerships, and validates your solution on a global stage. It’s a rare platform that brings together deep industry knowledge and forward-thinking startups. For us, it helped connect our work to the larger mission of making insurance more personalized, preventive, and pet-friendly.

What does this award mean to you and your innovation team?

This award is a meaningful milestone for our team, who have worked tirelessly across AI, veterinary medicine, and customer experience to create something truly new in the market. It shows that the insurance industry is ready to embrace innovation not only for people—but for pets too. It energizes us to keep pushing boundaries and proves that real innovation can come from thinking differently, even in a space as traditional as insurance.
