Sun Life partnered with Optimity to launch a holistic wellness platform for Sun Life clients. Optimity is a digital, mobile-first app offering health and wealth modules that cover aspects of well-being, including physical and mental health: nutrition, hydration, active living, fitness, mental health, self-care, relationships, social connectedness, financial literacy, and wealth-building. Optimity serves as a visible differentiator and modern benefit of Sun Life insurance products, where clients can receive rewards, recognition, and encouragement for taking daily steps to improve their well-being by supporting all pillars of their everyday life. The app encourages clients to set and prioritize S.M.A.R.T. goals along with personalized insights and recommendations based on their Health Grade and subscores to help them improve their overall health and quality of life-based on where they are. Optimity specializes in the science of micro-learning, social-connectedness, and activity challenges. The platform aggregates a robust reward network including discounts on products/services, loyalty points, and charities integrations with over 400 partners and wearable devices to sync activity data. The program objective was centered around leveraging the Optimity platform for client engagement, encouraging their clients to establish healthy habits which can ultimately reduce insurance claims in the long run, learning about the health and financial attributes of clients, and initiating conversations with clients around relevant insurance products. The program was a part of Sun Life's wider strategy to become the leading insurance company focused on health. There is a shared incentive to help clients live a healthier life, as this is good for clients and Sun Life as a result of fewer claims. Referred users (non-clients) were also a part of the group, so Sun Life had the opportunity to raise brand awareness amongst and digitally interact with Canadian consumers as well. Optimity collaborated with Sun Life to onboard clients into the group, drive Health Risk Assessment completions, and maintain high engagement.
