Innovation presentation

OCBC is a regional bank with over 420 branches and offices, and over 30,000 employees in 19 countries and regions. In the past, inefficient workflows required employees to chase signatures and send numerous emails for manager approvals across different entities. Digital Office aims to accelerate its digitalisation efforts through strategic collaborations with cross-functional teams and provide essential tools that foster effective collaboration across geographical locations. This includes harmonising all employees’ essential tools and resources into a unified platform, MyWorld (Desktop) & HR-in-your-Pocket (HIP) (Mobile) and Buddy, which enables streamlined digital workflows and connected journeys spanning across the entire group. These efforts ensure effective operations and improve productivity. Our submission highlights our dedication to adapting to the rise of a future hybrid workforce.

Many of our innovations are the first of their kind in the region.

OCBC’s generative AI chatbot "Buddy" assists employees in finding information quickly such as searching for OCBC acronyms and frequently asked information on the intranet. Buddy benefits employees, especially new hires. Our in-house “OCBC GPT” further assists employees in summarising reports and looking for publicly available information, in a concise manner.

"Digital Service Desk" was rolled out to enable self-guided and straight through resolutions to save time for both employees and support agents. Employees can log cases conveniently using HIP, with flexibility to schedule IT concierge appointments with preferred dates and times and have real-time visibility of their cases.

In-house blockchain allows employees to verify document authenticity and versioning by scanning the document's QR using HIP, ensuring access to the most recent and accurate documents. Blockchain ensures an immutable record of document changes, eliminating the need for time-consuming accuracy verification.

“Speech-to-text meeting summarisation” on HIP enables employees to focus on meeting conversations rather minutes-taking, including the ability to identify speakers in transcribed notes. After each meeting, the app generates and sends a transcribed note to employees’ email within minutes.

"Tellergram", our internal social media platform on HIP, delivers bite-sized content and shares interesting news exclusively within OCBC. It features employees and their captivating stories, which act as advocates for the brand internally. This initiative enhances employee engagement, fosters meaningful connections among employees, and cultivates a deep sense of commitment to OCBC.

In line with our sustainability commitment, the "Name Card" feature on HIP has helped minimise our carbon footprint, with over 200,000 uses since July 2021, estimated to save more than 2,000,000 paper cards.

"Campus on Cloud" feature on MyWorld & HIP is vital in supporting employees' career development by keeping them updated with essential skills and providing necessary tools and resources for professional growth. As of December 2023, 90% of OCBC employees have accessed and benefited from the offerings.
