Desjardins mobile application boasts 2.8 million users, with approximately 1.6 million visits per day. It enables Desjardins members to perform day-to-day banking transactions, manage credit cards, invest and oversee their investments, as well as apply for loans and manage repayments.
In 2024, the Desjardins mobile application was significantly enhanced with the integration of a virtual assistant, Alvie, who offers personalized financial management tips to all mobile users. This technological advancement has greatly improved Desjardins' digital client experience. The introduction of Alvie allows the application to transcend its transactional role by incorporating a relational component. This enhancement is driven by analytics and data utilization, enabling Alvie to support members on a daily basis.
The initial phase focuses on familiarizing members with this new form of support, allowing them to gradually adapt to Alvie's presence in their financial lives. The first insights provided aim to raise awareness of cash inflows and outflows, enabling members to balance their budgets. Alvie can quickly summarize account transactions and alert members to any unusual activities. A selection of twenty tips, offered in various forms, personalizes the approach based on each member's habits and circumstances.
Most importantly, Alvie encourages members to create a monthly budget by expense category and monitors progress throughout the month. It offers tools such as cash flow management and budgeting, and users can review the history of tips received over the past 35 days.
Launching a virtual assistant within the Desjardins mobile services app was a significant milestone. It aligns with Desjardins mission to support members becoming financially empowered by helping them make informed decisions..
