Innovation presentation

Our project explores using quantum annealing for real-world portfolio optimization—a core finance challenge. The objective was to test if quantum computing can match or surpass classical methods in finding the best asset allocations under real banking constraints. We were inspired by the rapid progress in quantum tech and the growing complexity of financial optimization, where classical solvers struggle as portfolios grow.

Few in the industry have moved beyond academic tests; our work stands out by using actual client data and production scenarios. The project was a collaboration between RBI’s Quantum Community (spanning analytics, IT, and innovation) and Reply’s quantum experts. Leveraging D-Wave’s hybrid quantum solvers, we found the quantum approach matched classical results—proving quantum’s promise for scalable, efficient financial optimization. This positions us at the forefront of quantum innovation in banking.
