Pulsoo was developed to address a critical gap in the Portuguese SME market, which represents over 99% of the country’s business landscape but remains underserved by traditional financial solutions. SME owners, sole proprietors, and self-employed professionals often face fragmented financial data, low degrees of financial literacy, and complex regulatory obligations. In response, Banco BPI, in partnership with NOS Empresas, launched Pulsoo - a fully digital platform that consolidates financial management and regulatory compliance into one intuitive app, available for both BPI clients and non-clients. The app is built around four core components: 1- Multi-bank account aggregation, enabled by PSD2 regulations and a partnership with BizAPIs. This feature allows users to link accounts from most major Portuguese banks, giving them a centralized overview of their financial situation. 2- Regulatory compliance, addressed through direct API connections with the Portuguese Tax Authority and Social Security Services, enabling users to monitor obligations, set alerts, and access essential compliance documents. 3- Business financial management tools provide users with the ability to track and categorize transactions, set budgets, and view projected cash flows based on historical data. 4- Payment initiation is supported across all aggregated accounts, with user consent required through the respective bank’s app to authorize the transaction. App-to-app technology ensures a seamless transition to the appropriate banking application for confirmation. In addition to these components, Pulsoo includes a financial literacy section featuring curated articles on topics such as financial responsibility, cybersecurity, digital innovation, and market trends—empowering SME owners with relevant knowledge.
