What led to the creation of eAgro?
When we were growing up, my co-founders and I faced the same problems as seven million other smallholder farming households in Zimbawe, of not getting access to financial assistance and quality agronomic services. Tafadzwa Chikwereti, one of my co-founders, pitched the idea to me, and as someone who was eager to solve these problems we then started to work on a sustainable solution to elevate farmers.
Could you present eAgro’s offer?
eAgro offers access to credit and insurance for smallholder farmers through the use of artificial intelligence, data analytics and machine learning. We offer farmers' credit scores to financial institutions and we offer end-to-end management of insurance premiums for the farmers to insurers. We make use of satellite imagery to monitor the farms.
What's coming next for eAgro?
Collaboration is the best competition in our ecosystem so at eAgro we are partnering with relevant partners in the market such as financing institutions, NGOs, government bodies, etc.
