Santander Brazil is spearheading a transformative initiative by introducing a free platform for informal microentrepreneurs, allowing them to officially register within 10 minutes. This strategic move is geared towards simplifying and expediting the process for individuals seeking to formalize their status as microentrepreneurs.
Accessible on Santander Brazil's corporate website, the platform facilitates the quick acquisition of a Corporate Tax ID number (CNPJ), empowering existing entrepreneurs operating as "natural persons" to enjoy the benefits of becoming Individual Microentrepreneurs (MEI).
Crucially, the service is open to everyone, eliminating the necessity of holding an account with Santander. The platform can be accessed at www.santandernegocioseempresas.com.br/abra-seu-cnpj/.
As part of the comprehensive "Programa Avançar," Santander has collaborated with MaisMEI, a startup specializing in solutions for self-employed professionals. The objective is to reach informal entrepreneurs nationwide, transform their financial practices, and provide clarity on the formalization process.
Simultaneously, Santander Brazil is launching a digital campaign to dispel misinformation and provide insights into the realities of entrepreneurship. Around 1,800 financial education specialists within the bank will directly engage with informal entrepreneurs, particularly those using banking services as natural persons, enhancing financial literacy and transforming small businesses.
The bank will initially concentrate on the customer base of Prospera Santander Microfinança, a microfinance program that has already assisted 2.3 million customers and disbursed R$20 billion in credit. Leveraging this direct channel, the bank aims to expand financial advisory services and offer clarity on the formalization process.
Formalizing microentrepreneurs unlocks essential benefits, including access to credit and other vital banking solutions crucial for business growth. Santander Brazil intends to position its representatives as financial advisors, emphasizing the advantages of formalization, such as access to a pension, sick pay, paid maternity leave, improved price negotiation, and the ability to attract more customers.
In a bid to provide accurate information, Santander has compiled a list of major myths and benefits associated with becoming an MEI. By dispelling myths surrounding costs, taxes, loss of social benefits, and more, the bank aims to empower microentrepreneurs to make informed decisions and capitalize on the advantages of formalization.
