Rubyx was one of the outstanding fintech startups selected for the 2023 edition of the CATAPULT: Inclusion Africa by the LHOFT. Co-Founder Thomas Carrié tells us about the Senegal-based firm’s mission to address the challenges faced by micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in emerging markets and bridge the gap in digital lending services, by providing a comprehensive lending-as-a-service model to both digital platforms and traditional financial institutions.

What led to the creation of Rubyx?

After years of working together on a variety of projects for major actors of the financial inclusion industry, we decided to create a company to focus our passion, experience and intelligence to deliver a vision that would transform financial services for MSEs in emerging markets. We wanted to position Rubyx as a leader in the rapid transformation of the industry and a desired partner for many financial institutions and digital platforms interested in digital lending. We brought together experience and know-how in customer research, service design, advanced data science, machine learning, business planning and financial services technology.
