Archer Aviation has announced plans to launch an air taxi network in Los Angeles by 2026, aiming to transform how residents and visitors travel in Southern California. The network will feature vertiports at key locations like LAX, Santa Monica, Hollywood Burbank, and Long Beach, enabling passengers to bypass traffic and reach destinations in 10-20 minutes using Archer’s electric Midnight aircraft.

The Midnight, designed for short flights, can travel at speeds up to 150 mph while being 100 times quieter than helicopters. It accommodates four passengers and a pilot, offering a sustainable, zero-emission alternative to ground transportation. Archer plans to reduce commute times while providing a safer, eco-friendly travel option.

Strategic partnerships with the Los Angeles Rams and the University of Southern California (USC) will see the creation of vertiports at Hollywood Park and Woodland Hills, along with the conversion of USC’s heliports to support air taxi services. These efforts align with Los Angeles’ preparations for upcoming global events, providing an innovative travel solution for visitors.

California Governor Gavin Newsom praised Archer’s initiative, calling it a key step toward reducing traffic and pollution in the state. Archer’s network in Los Angeles will complement its ongoing projects in the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as its partnerships with Southwest and United Airlines.

With rapid advancements in technology and infrastructure, Archer Aviation is poised to bring a faster, quieter, and more sustainable transportation solution to the skies of Southern California.
