Monzo introduces feature to undo payments
By default, Monzo gives users 15 seconds to cancel a payment, but this can be adjusted to 10, 30, or even 60 seconds in the app’s Privacy & Security settings.
UK digital bank Monzo has introduced a new feature that allows customers to undo a payment shortly after sending it—making it the first bank to offer this kind of control. Whether you typed the wrong amount, paid the wrong person, or simply changed your mind, you now have a brief window to stop the payment before it goes through.
By default, Monzo gives users 15 seconds to cancel a payment, but this can be adjusted to 10, 30, or even 60 seconds in the app’s Privacy & Security settings. If you tap “Undo payment” in time, the money never leaves your account, and the recipient won’t even know you almost sent it.
Fixing common — and costly — mistakes
According to Moneyhub, 1 in 10 people in the UK have accidentally sent money to the wrong person. Unlike buying the wrong item online, payment mistakes are often harder to reverse—and more stressful. Trying to get your money back can be a drawn-out process, with no guarantee of success.
Monzo’s new feature aims to take the stress out of everyday payments by letting users correct mistakes quickly and easily. It’s a small window, but one that could make a big difference—especially when the stakes are high.
Optional, flexible, and easy to use
The undo feature is completely optional. Users who prefer instant payments can simply turn it off in their settings. For those who want the added peace of mind, the feature offers a simple, effective safety net.
With this update, Monzo continues to build tools that make banking more responsive and user-friendly—helping customers stay in control of their money.
