PNC Bank has introduced PNC Mobile Accept, a new feature in its mobile app that lets micro businesses accept in-person credit and debit card payments—without monthly fees or clunky hardware. Aimed at businesses processing under $300,000 annually, it offers a pay-as-you-go model that bypasses many of the barriers tied to traditional payment systems.

Micro businesses—often sole operators or mobile vendors—have long struggled with costly fees, complex setups, and approval delays. With PNC’s tool, they can now take payments via manual entry or a compact reader that supports tap, dip, or swipe.

Business-grade features, mobile simplicity

PNC Mobile Accept includes functions typically found in full-scale point-of-sale systems: tax and tip entry, encrypted cardholder data, real-time tracking, and access to funds within two business days. All major credit cards are accepted.

“Micro businesses are often left behind by traditional card payment solutions,” said Matt Evans, head of PNC Merchant Services for Small Businesses. “This tool meets them where they are—fast, affordable, and accessible.”

With this move, PNC joins a growing wave of financial institutions building stripped-down, tech-driven solutions for the smallest players in the business ecosystem.
