Traditionally, immigrant and working class communities are forced to buy auto insurance in person, which is costly and time consuming. This is due to challenges legacy providers have with underwriting this market and under investment in technology. Sigo has automated much of the front line underwriting required to onboard and service drivers buying basic auto insurance. Providing a mobile-first, bilingual experience with transparent pricing is a significant differentiator for customers. The company was founded after Nestor Hugo Solari, Founder and CEO, was asked for help in finding auto insurance by family members. Initially confused, he realized many of the large, well-known insurers either reject or price out much of his community. This led to the launching of Sigo Insurance Agency and later the development of the technology behind Sigo Seguros.
