About
IQuest: mobile learning, effective and not dependent on time or place.
Innovation presentation
The world in the mortgage domain around us is changing faster and faster, requiring employees to be quicker to take new policies and processes on board. Until now, employees did not feel truly involved in the available e-learning and training opportunities, based on a process manual update. The question was whether we would be able within the chain Geld Nodig Particulieren to implement the various changes in the mortgage process every quarter or even every week.
This was the starting point for our quest to come up with a learning solution that engaged employees better for a longer period of time. And to deliver updates at the doorstep of their daily work and other routines. The quest ended with IQuest: a mobile gaming app. Developed by a team of Talent Development specialists, business experts and game developers, IQuest enables the user to obtain new knowledge on mortgage policies and procedures in a playful way. Learning in the moment of need, where, when, how and with who the learner wants to. This is achieved through the use of several gamification elements (quizzes, rewards, ranking) and social concepts (team tasks, battles, reward exchange) within the game.
IQuest currently has 1,800 users who give it a score of 8.
Uniqueness of the project
In the past, Rabobank used to provide standard information channels and traditional e-learning forms to enable its employees to obtain this new knowledge and skills. We saw that both solutions did not sufficiently succeed in their effectiveness in a context which is dominated by an ever increasing speed in which new policies and procedures are being implemented. But perhaps even worse, they were not sufficiently able to engage employees to learn all necessary novelties on a daily basis. With the new mobile gaming concept and tool presented, we offer other organizations an opportunity to enrich their learning solutions palette, with a tool that enables them to engage learners/employees better, and to provide them with new knowledge more effectively, in the moment of need and in a playful manner.
