Innovation presentation
Embracing financial inclusion, BRI is extending its network to remote areas through branchless banking namely BRILink. BRILInk is the utilization of BRI’s e-banking infrastructure by third parties (BRILink Agent) through fee sharing scheme. BRILink Agents are selected from existing micro borrowers who have good track record and permanent shop, thus having regular customers. BRI is one of the pioneers of branchless banking. BRILink was invented and developed internally. Using BRILink, BRI is able to provide easy banking access via EDC and mobile phones to members of the community without bank accounts. BRILink services include cash deposit and withdrawal, payment point (electricity, phone, loan, etc), purchase (top up mobile phone voucher and electricity voucher, buy goods) and transfer (to internal bank and outside the bank). Through BRILink, BRI has been able to broaden its coverage to deeper community members (bank and non-bank customers) and provides ease of access, proximity, convinience, speed and security in banking transaction via BRILink Agents. For the Bank, this system accelerates the low-cost funds gathering, increases the number of customers and supports the growth of fee based income. In addition, BRILink will also drive the Bank’s operational efficiency in the future. At the end of 2015, BRI has more than 53.200 BRILink agents derived from BRI’s customer base and located throughout Indonesia, records 65,9 million transactions (increase 6217% yoy) with total transaction IDR 35,9 Trillion (increase 3684% yoy) and generates fee based income IDR 20 billion ( increase 4445% yoy).
