The team started with a definitive goal in mind – To implement a one-stop- portal for all OCBC employees’ HR related matters immediately – anytime, anywhere. The app encompasses all essentials in a single portal thus the name – HR in your Pocket (HIP). It serves as a one stop portal for all OCBC employees’ HR related enquiries (without going through the intranet). HIP gives over 6,000 Singapore employees in Singapore access to HR resources at their fingertips. In addition to that, it cuts down the time and manpower needed by HR. Employees’ queries can be answered by “Buddy” the Chatbot. within HIP which was tailor made. It is designed to be personalised and can respond to individualised questions. OCBC Bank is the first bank in Singapore to launch a comprehensive HR application with an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered Chatbot that has been integrated with real-time HR information. Upon obtaining feedbacks from the employees, there were many concerns such as “Too many applications” were required to accomplish simple tasks and this inspired the creation of HIP. It to minimises labour hours and increase productivity. The key objective is to make such mundane procedures a more delightful experience. The Group HR & Group Operations & Technology - Mobile Developer Team worked closely to brainstorm and address problems in order to craft the best solution within 8 weeks. Upon the launch of HIP, there was a very healthy sign up rate. 378 staff downloaded the app in the first 6 weeks reflecting its popularity amongst the employees.
