The Co-operators is a Canadian-owned co-operative with over 70 years of history. Our members include co-operatives and credit union centrals. Our business decisions are guided by our co-operative principles, so the need for profitability is balanced with the needs of our members and their communities. It’s always been The Co-operators mandate to go above and beyond for our clients, and Home to Be is one example of how we consider their holistic needs. Home to Be is a free app that provides first-time homebuyers with all the information they need to purchase a house that’s right for them—the app enables buyers to identify and compare market value, crime, fire and flood risk, any potential hidden repair costs, mortgage and insurance requirements and more. Users simply type in the address of the home they’re interested in and the app provides everything they need to know about the property including: - A range of a home’s value based on similar properties sold in the neighbourhood. - Possible repair costs. - Estimated mortgage payments, legal costs and insurance premiums. - Neighbourhood trends, such as safety scores, average home appreciation/depreciation in the community and growth trends. It has been a true collaboration effort as several departments have contributed to this including sales, pricing/underwriting, IT, marketing, legal, etc. We are very proud of the innovative work put into the Home to Be mobile app, and with more than 3,000 downloads, and a five-star rating, since launching in Ontario since Oct’17, we are confident that this tool will continue to attract and help current and potential clients.
