That kind of clarity matters. Nearly 50% of buyers purchased points in late 2023 and early 2024, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association. Yet in our own study, only 27% of homebuyers felt confident explaining what points even are. Most lenders hide this information behind a sales call. Switcher breaks that norm with a transparent, self-serve experience—no sales pitch required.
Switcher was built to solve one of the mortgage industry’s most frustrating problems: buyers see low advertised rates, then get hit with hidden fees late in the process. It eliminates what we call “rate-keeping”—the practice of withholding real pricing until a buyer gets on the phone. Instead, it gives homebuyers an upfront view of what a mortgage will actually cost, including monthly payment, lender fees, closing costs, and point breakeven timelines.
The tool uses AI to generate personalized rate quotes based on live market pricing and the buyer’s specific loan scenario—no sales call or credit pull required. It was developed through close collaboration between Tomo’s Product, Engineering, Capital Markets, and Design teams, blending technical accuracy with an intuitive interface.
