A pioneering algorithm that enables you to calculate your personalised healthy life expectancy and the one action you can take to put yourself on a path towards better health.
Traditional risk scores are outdated for they lack a sufficient degree of personalization and resonance. In combining our research with RAND Europe and Prof. Hal Hershfield from UCLA with our own proprietary data set and models, we were able to create a risk score that provides individuals with the most relevant actions to maximize their healthy life expectancy. When embedded in our products, we will have the opportunity to link these personalized and resonant insights to our proven behavioral change interventions with applications to millions of our members around the world.
Uniqueness of the project
Research shows that the number of years people are spending in ill health is increasing, primarily due to the rising prevalence of chronic diseases, driven by unhealthy lifestyles.
Experts call for focus on healthspan, the quality of life, alongside lifespan, the quantity of life, citing significant economic and social benefits. Now, a pioneering algorithm by Vitality, in collaboration with RAND Europe, can predict an individual's unique healthspan (the number of years lived in good health) and their future health risks - plus actions to improve their risk and quality of life.
The research demonstrates that a few, simple changes to lifestyle behaviours can have an enormous impact on healthy life expectancy and quality of life.
