Concept and Objectives: EcoClaim combines innovative software and software integration with training programs and a carbon marketplace to enable insurance companies and contractors in their supply chain to measure and reduce claims-related GhG emissions. EcoClaim’s software enables efficient calculation and aggregation of actual GhG emissions (not estimates) as well as quantification of avoided emissions to demonstrate progress. Progress is achieved as a result of EcoClaim’s training and guidance on how to reduce GhG emissions associated with waste, fleets and other material claim-related emissions, and our software integration with existing software in the marketplace minimizes software learning curves and additional work to accurately track and report claims-related carbon emissions.
State of Competition: EcoClaim stands out as the only solution offering per-claim carbon tracking and actionable insights. Competitors primarily focus on broad, sector-level estimates or compliance tools, lacking the specificity and practical application that EcoClaim provides insurers to gather actual info (not estimates) about claims-related Scope 3 emissions. EcoClaim is also the only GHG software that automatically aggregates data from contractors and allocates to insurers based on specific claims. Our interface with existing software used in the field generates accuracy and efficiency in tracking and reporting through seamless integration into workflows.
Sources of Inspiration: Key driver for development of EcoClaim software is increasing regulatory requirements for insurers to measure and report Scope 3 (supply chain) emissions in Canada, the UK, EU, Australia, California, New York, Washington State, and other regions. EcoClaim’s founders’ extensive field experience inspired them to seek development of solutions that create efficiencies for measurement and reporting while also supporting those insurers seeking to leverage their supply chain to reduce GhG emissions and associated costs. The low carbon way and the low-cost way are the same way at EcoClaim.
Results to Date: GHG Emissions Avoided: More than 984,765 kg of CO₂e emissions avoided in 2024 alone. Claims Processed: Over 2,518 claims measured and tracked through EcoClaim’s TRAX software and leveraged to inform training and guidance for future claims-related GhG reductions.
Global Expansion: Trained company leaders and representatives from 80+ firms across Canada, and launched in the UK, USA, and Australia markets in 2024. Financial Impact: (example) Delivered $133,656 in cost savings to an insurance company through waste diversion on a single large-loss claim.
Software in market: TRAX launched early 2024; TRAX v.3 to launched early 2025 with expanded reporting capacity and further automation and software integration. Weigh Better and ReBuild Better software in beta for integration with TRAX v.3 in 2025 will increase reporting efficiencies and expand measurement, tracking and guidance with construction materials lifecycle carbon impacts.
