Concept and Objectives

The Additional Benefits Module project aims to modernize the existing individual pension additional benefits infrastructure by transforming it into an open, cloud-based, and service-oriented user- friendly platform. The key objective is to automate bonus calculation, payment, monitoring, and reporting processes, while ensuring scalability, security, and a user-friendly experience.

Reasons Behind the Project

Legacy systems and manual processes were causing operational inefficiencies, increased error risk, and limited scalability. Growing transaction volumes, higher customer expectations, and the need for accuracy in financial processes necessitated a full end-to-end automation and redesign using modern technologies.

State of Competition

Although similar solutions exist in the market, most rely on limited automation layered over legacy infrastructures. This project differentiates itself through its cloud-based microservice modular architecture, enabling sustainable, flexible, and secure management of high-volume transactions. At the heart of this transformation lies the AgeSA Middleware Architecture Framework (MAF) infrastructure, built with high technology. MAF operates on Openshift with a Java/Spring Boot-based microservice architecture. Domain Driven Design (DDD) principles directly reflect business processes in the technology, while Redis provides high-speed data management and Apache Kafka enables event-driven architecture and also the Spring Dataflow handles large-scale data processing tasks.

Sources of Inspiration

The initiative was inspired by digital transformation trends in the financial sector, the agility provided by cloud and microservice architectures, customer experience–focused design principles, and the pursuit of operational excellence.

Departments Involved

The solution was delivered through close collaboration between AgeSA Fund Management, Regulatory Compliance, Accounting, Business Intelligence, and Reporting Business Units, ensuring strong alignment between technical capabilities and business needs.

Main Results So Far

Manual tasks have been largely eliminated, resulting in up to an 85% improvement in operational efficiency. The system currently handles an average of 670K monthly auto-enrolment and voluntary pension transactions, with approximately TRY 10 million in monthly additional benefit payments processed automatically.

Automated alarm and re-trigger mechanisms were implemented to handle calculation errors, while business users were provided with transparent monitoring through user-friendly interfaces. Human errors were minimized through approval workflows aligned with the separation of duties principle. Customer satisfaction was enhanced through SMS and email notifications, and automated alerts enabled business teams to govern the process online.
