Innovation at BCA

BCA (Bank Central Asia) is nominated in the Transformative Innovator of the Year category at the Qorus-Infosys Finacle Banking Innovation Awards 2024. We asked the bank to present its strategy and actions in terms of innovation.

Why do you consider your company a Global Transformative Innovator?

Culture of innovation is ingrained in the company culture since it is a part of our corporate values, continues pursuit of excellence. Each unit is required to deliver innovation/improvement within the company, and each staff is prepared to deliver his/her own innovation as part of his/her job. To further encourage the staff on innovation, we also hold several innovation/improvement internal competitions each year, even brought to external competitions.

How is a culture of innovation achieved across your company?

As the biggest private bank in Indonesia which operate mostly locally, we are chosen as one of the world's best bank in 2023 by Forbes which cemented the acknowledgement that we can compete globally. This can only be achieved through consistent innovation within the strong competition from other banks, either local or multinational banks which operates in Indonesia. Innovation is the norm and the heart of the capacity and capability built by the companies, from a million of customers in early 2000's to more than 30 million customers now.

What are the major goals and results obtained from your ongoing innovation strategy?

The ongoing innovation strategy has created long term shareholder values from: efficiency of process and cost reduction, excellent customer experience and improved satisfaction, and sustainability and scalability.

How does your company manage the overall innovation process?

The innovation management is done via mini company and scrum methodology, we also have project management office which manage all innovations within the company, all units are part of the innovation process, and we have strong company culture of One BCA which reminds everybody on collaboration and not working in silos.
