In this interview, Miriam Cano, Director of Operational Marketing for Property and Casualty Insurance at SegurCaixa Adeslas, shares the story behind MyBox Tranquilidad Senior, the award-winning solution that earned SegurCaixa Adeslas recognition at the Qorus Innovation in Insurance Awards 2026.
Miriam reflects on how understanding the evolving needs of older people can inspire more preventive, accessible and meaningful protection—and shares lessons for insurers looking to turn customer insights into valuable new solutions.
Can you introduce yourself and tell us more about your role at your company?
I am Miriam Cano, Director of Operational Marketing for Property and Casualty Insurance at SegurCaixa Adeslas. I lead the development, positioning, and ongoing evolution of our solutions across lines of business including Home, Motor, Personal Accident, Funeral, Pet, and Commercial Insurance. My objective is to drive innovation, streamline the purchasing process, and enhance service delivery.
What made you most proud of MyBox Tranquilidad Senior?
What makes me most proud is the work of a team that has successfully identified how the needs of older people are evolving and translated those insights into meaningful protection. MyBox Tranquilidad Senior combines financial protection with assistance services to help policyholders maintain their independence, support their recovery, and provide assistance to their families before, during, and after an accident.
What’s the most important thing you would tell someone considering embarking on a similar project?
I would advise them to start by listening. Innovation in insurance requires monitoring societal change, understanding needs that are not yet being adequately addressed, and working cross-functionally to translate those insights into straightforward, valuable solutions. The objective should not be simply to add coverage, but to provide better support and help people prevent or mitigate the impact of risks on their everyday lives.
What's coming next for MyBox Tranquilidad Senior?
MyBox Tranquilidad Senior forms part of the broader evolution of our solutions for older customers. We aim to move toward a more preventive, personalized, and accessible protection model—one that can support them before, during, and after a need arises, help them preserve their independence, and adapt to a wide range of lifestyles and circumstances.
What would you say to companies that might consider entering the 2027 Insurance Innovation Awards?
I would encourage them to submit projects that address a genuine need and can demonstrate tangible value. To achieve this, it is essential to listen to both customers and distribution partners. It is equally important to translate those insights into solutions that anticipate needs, prevent risks, and support people in a simple, accessible way.
What does this award mean to you and your innovation team?
This recognition is a source of collective pride: it rewards the cross-functional effort of our entire team in conceiving and developing the solution. It also acknowledges the contribution of our distribution network, which has successfully connected the proposition with the market and enabled customers to discover, appreciate, and choose this new approach to protection.
